"The above postcard was mailed out to the local community as an invitation to the first service of the new church. My Mom's parents received the postcard and my grandfather on my Dad's side of the family laid the brick on this building.

I took the 1982 photo shortly after starting work for the coal company that now uses the building as a heavy equipment repair shop."

"These photos were taken during the construction of a building at Bonny Blue called the Y.
My Grandfather, Elbert Travis was the brick mason in charge of the bricking of this building as well as the commissary building that sat across the road, and the church that sat on the hill over looking the Y.
The concrete porch was still in place as late as 1981 when I first started working for Powell Mountain Coal."
